the painting course is a natural continuation of the drawing course, which provided the necessary experiential base for painting in oil; this course is for students of the school and practicing painters who would like to strengthen their ability in painting the human figure. Throughout the painting course, we will concentrate on understanding volume, tonal values and building a form without outlines.

Students will practice initially using a palette consisting of only black and white, will next move on to a limited palette of preliminary hues and will then come to explore the possibilities of a full color palette.

The exercises will proceed gradually from fundamental to more complex; each exercise lays a solid foundation for those that follow. Subjects start with still life, moving to cast painting, live models and portraits. At this stage of the course we'll deal with different aspects of painting technique, mixing colors, and the theory of color relationships, stretching and preparing canvas and other supports for painting.

Our approach is based on our conviction that deep understanding of the processes as well as non-stop practice using the tools, techniques and materials are the best base for reaching the level of technical and theoretical skill to create a work of art that contains profound interest and expression.

Studying the structure of human body is the center of interest of the figurative painter, and makes it the heart of the learning process. Completing the painting course enables the painter to face more demanding subjects on his path of development as an artist.
